Data sources

Every payout, date and tax figure in Gooseberry comes from the fund companies’ own public disclosures. We don’t buy data from aggregators.

What we use

Each fund’s distribution table, its monthly Section 19(a) notices (the fund’s estimate of what a payout is made of), its annual Form 8937 or year-end tax statement (the final return-of-capital figures), and its published NAV and market price. We show these as facts: dates, per-share amounts and percentages, credited to the fund company, with links to its own documents rather than copies of them.

How we collect it

A small program identifying itself as Gooseberry/1.0 reads each fund’s public pages about twice each weekday, a few requests per fund. It follows each site’s robots.txt, including crawl delays, and stays out of anything behind a login. Figures are checked before they’re published; when a fund company prints a typo, we correct it and record why.

For fund companies

If you represent a fund sponsor and would like a correction, different attribution, a data feed you prefer we use, or your funds removed, email support@getgooseberry.app. A person reads every message, and removal requests are acted on promptly.
