Questions, a payout that doesn’t match your statement, or a fund you want added: email support@getgooseberry.app. A person reads every message.
When can I get Gooseberry?
Gooseberry is in final testing for iPhone. Join the list to get the TestFlight beta and launch-day news.
Is it really free?
Yes. No subscription, no ads, no limit on holdings. It costs almost nothing to run because it has no servers holding your data.
Which funds does it support?
Today 23 funds from NEOS, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan; see the full list. You can also add any other fund by hand with its payouts. YieldMax, Roundhill and closed-end funds are next.
Where does the fund data come from?
From the fund issuers themselves: their distribution tables, monthly Section 19(a) notices and annual Form 8937 tax filings. We check them every weekday and publish only figures that pass validation. When an issuer publishes a typo, we correct it and record why.
My payout doesn’t match my brokerage. Why?
The usual reasons are shares bought on or after the ex-date (they don’t get that payout), a purchase entered with the wrong date, or reinvested (DRIP) shares that aren’t in Gooseberry yet. If it still doesn’t match, email us the fund, the date and what your broker paid, and we’ll look into it.
What is return of capital?
Part of a payout that the fund classifies as giving back your own investment rather than income or gains. It isn’t taxed when you receive it, but it lowers your cost basis, so you may owe more tax when you sell. Many option-income funds pay mostly return of capital. Gooseberry shows how much, fund by fund and lot by lot. This is general information, not tax advice.
Why are some figures “estimated”?
Each month, funds publish a Section 19(a) notice estimating what the payout is made of. The final split is only known after the fund’s tax year ends, when the issuer files Form 8937, and it can differ a lot from the estimates. Gooseberry uses the final figures as soon as they’re published, and labels everything else as estimated. Your Form 1099-DIV is the final word for your taxes.
Does Gooseberry connect to my brokerage?
No. There’s no brokerage login and no account linking. You enter your holdings, or snap a screenshot of a trade confirmation and Gooseberry reads it on your iPhone.
How do I delete my data?
Your holdings live only on your iPhone (and your private iCloud, if you turn on sync), so deleting the app deletes them. To leave the email list, use the unsubscribe link in any email or write to us. See the privacy policy.
